Elden Black
"The Jacket"
Vitals
Elden Black was conceived when our good friend Ryan Holt approached us with an idea he had brewing for an indirect marketing piece. Cool clothes, something about a fight, and a chick that’s like ‘okay, you can have her, but I’ll be damned if you’re taking the jacket…’ That’s pretty much the way it started. Then several martini meetings later, the still-life-fashion-photo-turned-live-action concept was born. Check the treatment.
DP Jared Schoenmann wanted to shoot on Red and our buddy Kip Hewitt just happened to have one. We’d been looking for an excuse to work together - hot girls in guys clothes seemed to be all the excuse needed. After our first production designer fell through 4 days before the shoot, Tina Treglia, and Courtney Duckworth were quite literally angels sent from heaven. They did a damn good job coming up with a design concept that emphasized the dilapidated state the location was already in. For the chandelier shot, our grip Chris Rauch and his team rigged it so it would fall right the first time. This was, after all a one take deal. Yeah, we nailed it.. thanks C!
Elden was by far the most challenging shoot we did all year. And we love it for that.
